Our Mission
Make disciples.
Jesus told us what to do, and it has never changed. He told us to "make disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19). His mission, or what many refer to as the "great commission," is true for every church, whether they accomplish it or not.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:19–20
Our Vision
Foothills Church exists to develop mature disciples of Christ in relational environments.
What is a mature disciple? At Foothills Church we define this:
- One who is committed to following Christ (Luke 9:23; John 8:31).
- One who is committed to being changed by Christ—is becoming like Christ in attitude and action (John 15:8; Romans 8:29; Galatians 5:22; John 13:35).
- One who is committed to the mission of Christ (John 15:8, Mathew 4:19, 2 Corinthians 5:19-20).
What is a relational environment? At Foothills Church we define relational environments as:
- A small group of 3 to 18 people.
- A meeting with the purpose and intentionality to grow as a disciple.
- A group led by a more mature disciple.
- A place where safe relationships are built.
- A place where accountability, pastoring, encouragement, and teaching exist.
- A regular reoccurring meeting.

Our Focus
Our 2022 Focus is to “Make It Count”
Each year our elders determine what areas we need to focus on to complete the mission & vision of Foothills Church. This year’s focus is to make our lives count for the mission of God. Here’s what Make It Count means:
- M - Multiply Locations - In 2021, Foothills Church became one church in two locations. Our newest location is in Knoxville, TN. Led by Pastor Taylor Knight, this church will take our mission to develop mature disciples of Christ in relational environments to the city of Knoxville.
- I - Improve Our Locations - We believe that the next generation matters, and families deserve to have an unforgettable place to worship each week. That is why in 2022, we have completed our West Build renovation for our children and students. Our hope is also to buy land for increased parking at our Maryville location.
- C - Create Ministries In Matthew 25, Jesus explains that ministering to the hungry, thirsty, stranger, naked, sick, and imprisoned is what it looks like to serve those in need. In obedience to that, we have cultivated and created several ministry opportunities for the people of Foothills Church. Loving people in these areas is a part of what we are doing to Make It Count here in our community and beyond.
